About the Artist

My name is Nikki Sward and I am a Tasmanian Artist, with a University Degree in Fine Arts.

I work as a commission based artist, specialising in high quality, Original Traditional Portrait Drawings of Individuals, Groups and Animals. I work in charcoal, pencil and graphite on quality, acid-free cartridge paper. The finished product is sprayed with a non-toxic sealant to ensure the image does not smudge or fade with time.

I also specialise in Contemporary Canvas art in acrylics, including art for the home and commercial properties, Tattoo designing (both black and colour), Business logos and Business cards.

Commissioning a Portrait

The Commission Process

Informal Discussion:
Your first step is to simply contact me so that we can discuss your requirements, and the various options available regarding medium, size, timescale etc. You may email me at: creativesoul84@optusnet.com.au, or alternatively call me on 0401 429 817.

Arrange source material / Supplying reference photographs:
When choosing reference photographs, keep in mind that the finished portrait will be very much influenced by the quality of the photographs supplied. Photos should be reasonably large and as sharp and clear as possible. If you are unsure about the suitability of your photos, simply email/post them to me, and I will be pleased to give my opinion along with any suggestions which may be helpful. Once we've found a suitable photo,we will then make arrangements concerning size and medium.

Completion times:
Completion times can vary between 2 - 6 weeks depending on my current workload, so always allow plenty of time and give ample notice if planning a birthday gift, etc. If you require completion more quickly, just ask - I may be able to help.

Deposit:
A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required before commencement of the work - the remaining balance will be due on completion. The deposit can be made by bank deposit, money order or in person. Please notify me with your chosen method of payment.

Commencement of Drawing:
When you are happy with the composition discussed, I will begin the actual drawing. Throughout the rendering process I will email you updates to show you the stage I am at with the work.

Completion of Drawing:
When the work is done I will send you a final email with the finished product. If you are satisfied with the work I will then make preparations to send the drawing. At this point you will pay the remaining 75%.
*Please remember that I do recieve other orders also, so if you would like the work by a certain date, please give me ample time to create it*

Framing:
If required, framing can also be carried out (see pricing table)

Approval / Delivery:
Once completed, a scan/photo (depending on the size) of the portrait will be emailed to you for your approval. When you are satisfied, and the remaining balance has been received, the portrait will be despatched to you by a secure method. Customer will pay for shipping and handling charges, which vary depending on the size of the drawing, and if it is framed.
